Camera Mounts

Digital Mount | Professional Digital & SLR Mounts | HD Video

Yes!  You can photograph through your microscope!

Monocular or Binocular

These camera mounts will work on the monocular or binocular eyetubes any of our microscopes, and on virtually any microscope on the market.

They work with our Compound Microscopes (like the M2, Revelation III, and 3088 Premium), as well as our Stereomicroscopes (like the Z-2 Zoom, the Vision, and the Achiever).

Trinocular

If you want to use a camera mount on a Trinocular M2 or Z-2 Zoom, order your trinocular scope as follows:

  • For use with the Digital Mount or SLR Mount, order the Trinocular with the optional eyetube and eyepiece (listed in the order section).

  • For use with one of the Professional Digital Mounts, it will connect to either the C-Mount (standard on the M2 and Z-2) or with the eyetube option.

The Revelation III Trinocular tube comes standard with a eyepiece and eyetube, and will work with any of the options below.

Digital Camera Mount:   $85

Microscope Camera MountDigital cameras have brought convenience to photography - and our camera mount brings microscopy to photography.

You'll select the ring that fits your digital camera's filter threads, thread it to the eyepiece mount, then to your camera, and you are all set!

You'll receive:

  • Unique three-thumbscrew eyepiece mount that grips your microscope's eyepiece.  Fits any microscope.

  • All three filter rings: 28mm, 37mm, 52mm.  Fits most digital cameras.  Use step-up or step-down rings (from a camera shop) if your size is not available.

$85 + $5 shipping.  Shipped to USA addresses only.

A few notes to read before ordering:

  1. This mount uses the filter threads on your digital camera, so be sure your camera has them.  If you are not sure, check with your camera dealer.  This mount will not work without filter threads.  It will fit 28, 37, & 52mm threads, and other thread sizes can be accomplished using step up or step down rings available from your local camera shop.  (If they don't have exactly what you need, they will order them, and they are usually $10 or less.)

  2. Some cameras have lenses that extend out from the camera when they are turned on, with the filter threads on the body.  If your camera is like this, you'll need a "Lens Mount Adapter" to allow this camera mount to fit.  We bought ours for our Olympus camera at Circuit city for $9.95 (by manufacturer "Tiffen").  If your camera has its filter threads on the end of the lens that extends, no problem.

  3. There is a 10% restocking fee on this item, so please measure carefully.  In the event that this camera mount is found unsuitable for your camera or microscope, you must contact us for return instructions by the second day after receipt.  If you contact us after that, returns may be allowed at a higher restocking fee.

Professional Digital & SLR Camera Mount

If your photographic needs are mission critical, you'll want to seriously consider a Professional Digital Camera Mount.  These adapters have a multi-element relay lens which threads onto the digital camera, and then fits in place of the microscope eyepiece.

They fit any microscope from which an eyepiece can be removed leaving a 23mm or 30mm inside diameter tube. Just remove the microscope's eyepiece, insert the camera adapter in its place, check the focus on the camera’s LCD screen, and snap the picture.

These mounts will also connect to a standard C-Mount found on many trinocular microscope tubes, such as our Z-2 Stereomicroscope, M2 Labscope, and Inverted Microscopes.

You'll need to select the proper adapter for your camera.

We're sorry, but we do not have adapters for cameras not listed.

In the event that a camera mount is found unsuitable for your camera or microscope, you must contact us for return instructions within three days of receipt.  Please order carefully.

High Definition Video

HD Video Solution for MicroscopyDo you need to shoot 1080p high definintion video through the microscope?

Our MM99-58 Professional Digital Mount is a PERFECT FIT for the consumer Canon Vixia HF (up to 1080 lines of resolution) providing you a 1080p Digital HD solution for about $1,500.

Order the adapter from GreatScopes, and click Canon Vixia HF to buy the camera.

The 10x optical zoom lens in the Canon Vixia HF S30 is ideal for use with the MM99-58 adapter. The optical zoom is used to fill the screen and to completely eliminate vignetting. The camera remembers the last zoom position when turned off and back on, so the camera zoom does not have to be adjusted each time. Autofocus works fairly well for most microscopy imaging, but you might prefer to set the focus manually in order to perfectly parfocalize the camera with the microscope eyepieces. Auto exposure and white balance also works well for most applications, but, again, it is quite easy to manually adjust these settings utilizing the touch-screen menu. This is great for darkfield or polarized light as well.
